Out-of-School Senior Director

Maria Cuevas has been a leader in the expanded learning field for more than 33 years, supporting youth, families, and communities through programs grounded in equity, empowerment, and inclusion. With a background in Child Development, she is committed to creating meaningful opportunities that help young people discover their strengths and envision their future. Throughout her career, she has served in various field and leadership positions within the organization. As Senior Director of Out-of-School Time for LAUSD, Maria guides program structure, professional development opportunities, and the inclusive learning culture that shapes LA’s BEST. Her leadership has also extended statewide through service on the California AfterSchool Network (CAN) Leadership Team, and locally as an advisory board member for youth football programs. Maria remains committed to supporting the growth of expanded learning programs and the communities they serve.
