My name is David Phillip Anderson. Please call me “Anderson” to keep it simple! I am honored to join the legacy of LA’s BEST and serve as your President and Chief Executive Officer.
I believe expanded learning afterschool is the greatest system of support in the world geared for the advancement of students and our workforce.
Now is both a needed and phenomenal opportunity for us to continue to bridge our plentiful resources here in Los Angeles to our LA’s BEST students and employees.
I am thrilled to get started and I look forward to seeing you, learning from you, and partnering with you as we continue this valuable work in service to our students and families of Los Angeles. We are LA’s BEST!

David P. “Anderson,” MSSE has two decades of experience in Expanded Learning and youth development and is a business mind woven in passion and care for positive change.
In 2018, Anderson was honored by the California Department of Education Expanded Learning Division with the Emerging Leadership Award. Earlier this year, Anderson was named a Health Champion by Alliance for a Healthier Generation for his dedication to advance whole child health. He has served on the Los Angeles County Office of Education Expanded Learning Executive Leadership Committee and several strategic planning committees with the California Department of Education.
Throughout his career, Anderson has worked with four school districts and one charter school network. His career trajectory has taken him from working directly with students in the classroom, to serving as a Site Coordinator, and an Expanded Learning Manager for Lennox School District. Most recently, he has served in executive leadership with Think Together, the largest provider of expanded learning programs in California.
Anderson attended LAUSD schools from kindergarten through high school. He attended Santa Monica College, before transferring to the University of Southern California, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. He went on to achieve a Master of Science in Social Entrepreneurship degree from the USC Marshall School of Business, where he was awarded Social Entrepreneur of the Year.
Anderson is a servant leader and is honored to work in a field that helps to lay a solid academic, career and civic foundation for students and employees. He believes that it is through our youth that we may change the world in one generation and provides that in a few short years, our students will be our career oriented, and be civically responsible adult members of our communities/world. Anderson enjoys golf, audio books, traveling, eating, going to plays, laughing, and spending time with family and friends.
