David Mena

Specialist, LA’s BEST, School Support Administrator

David Mena’s journey with LA’s BEST began in 1988 when he served as a site coordinator at one of the program’s first schools. With over three decades of classroom teaching experience under his belt, David has witnessed firsthand the profound impact of LA’s BEST on young minds and communities. His extensive career within LAUSD has equipped him with a multifaceted skillset, having served as a classroom teacher, English learner designee, state testing coordinator, instructional coach, parent liaison, and technology coordinator. Alongside his teaching roles, David collaborated closely with LA’s BEST, producing staff training videos, acting as an activities consultant, program coach, and traveling program supervisor. He was also instrumental in initiating numerous site programs across various LA’s BEST communities. David’s unique vantage point, spanning both the classroom and the organization’s operations, allows him to continue fostering enriching activities and nurturing relationships within LA’s BEST. His educational qualifications include a Professional Clear Credential (BCLAD), an Advanced Management Program Certificate from UCLA, a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and a Clear Administrative Credential.
